Children's University

What exactly is the Children's University?

It's an organisation which signposts you to exciting learning activities which take place outside the normal school day - it could be before school, during lunchtime, after school, during weekends or holidays etc. The activities are all voluntary, it is up to you to choose what you do and when, and the learning always has a link to something you could go on to do at a 'grown up' university. Children's University is run by the Children's University (CU) Trust.

At our school

Our school is proud to be part of Warrington Children’s University, a national scheme that encourages voluntary learning beyond the school day. Warrington Children’s University runs alongside The Wolves Foundation.

Children are rewarded for their participation in voluntary learning by receiving credits for every hour they attend. If they receive enough credits they are invited to the annual Graduation Ceremony to get their certificate.

All our children, (from Y1 to Y6), are part of Children's University. They receive credits for attending most school clubs and residential visits. Credits from school activities are recorded on a database and sent to C.U. termly.

Children can also attend Learning Destinations and take part in holiday activities. Credits from these should be recorded in a passport. These credits are also checked each term and added to any from school.

Passports are now available and can be purchased from the school office at a cost of £2.00.

How Children's University works:

  • Join in extra curricular activities at school to earn credits.
  • Buy a passport and earn more credits attending local and national validated Learning Destinations.
  • Check Warrington Children's University Facebook page for CU activities taking place locally or the Children's University website for activities nationally.
